Dr. Gates was locked out of his home, had forgotten his keys, was tired and irritated. Then, some cop comes and questions him about being in his own house. I dont blame the man for feeling angry. However, with the police, discretion is the better point of valor. You dont get mouthy with them. It can go badly, and did. Fair? Maybe not, but that is the way it is for anybody, Black or White. Still, I hope some good will come out of it. I am glad they could meet and discuss the situation. It is naive to believe racism is not alive and thriving in this country. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, et. al scumbags, make that very clear. They have a slew of racist followers. They thrive on hatemongering. And, if they can make society more vicious, dangerous, and awash in anxiety, they will call that a great day.
