This and that and the other thing
Poor Arlen is having trouble fitting in. It may have something to do with trashing his new party at the same time as he’s dumping his old party.
It may just tell us something about the political problems facing today’s GOP that a Senator from Louisiana, of all places, thinks it’s okay to play political games over filling a vacancy at FEMA.
I didn’t need another reason to love Maine (where my family vacationed every year while I was growing up) — but I’ll take it.
If I wasn’t so consumed with worry for Sarah Palin over to her nose-diving approval ratings in Alaska, the situation in Pakistan just might be making me a little worried.
Things are starting to look a bit grim for John Yoo and the other torture lawyers: someone should really write a poem in his honor.
GOPers continue to flirt with secession. I’m so old I can still remember when Republicans used to say, “America, love it or leave it.” Today they seem to be saying, “America, elect us or we’ll leave you.”

The repugnant Pary of “No” is just plain mean. They are against more than they are for. And what they are for is plainly self-serving. Dick Cheney is the most obvious example: He cant stop justifying torture and trashing those who find it horrific. Then there is Bonehead Boehner, who is against anything that would help the average citizen. All of the Congressional Republicans are against everything but helping the wealthy. They are against Gays, against immigrants, against pro-choice, against, against, against. They can barely hide their racism. Their idols are dreadful men like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and that ugly old pervert, Bill O’Reilly. Add to that, truly vicious women like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin; and you have a veritable Witches Brew of nastiness. The farther to the right they lean, the more hateful and ugly they become. Sarah Palin is another example of self-serving, mean-spirited idiocy. She wants to shoot animals, trash the Alaskan environment, and feather her nest as much as possible. Yet, the Republicans love her. If they sink much lower, they will be wearing white robes and burning crosses. As for Arlen Specter, he is busily destroying any credibility he ever had(which, in my opinion, was practically nil). He will stab the Dems in the back again and again. They will find that their actions have been foolish. It is going to come back and bite them in the butt. This is what happens when you dance with the Devil.
