Seriously bummed about Siegelman

As you may have heard, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld all but two counts of Don Siegelman’s conviction. Based upon a close study of the case, I’m convinced this was not only a politically motivated prosecution, but a serious miscarriage of justice. Hopefully, Siegelman will eventually find some measure of justice. Meanwhile, this remains a stain on the American system of justice. For background on the case check here.

Someday, I hope KKKarl Rove is taken away in chains, wearing an orange jumpsuit. His smug, self-satisfied face has darkened our society for far too long. He is disgusting, deceitful, and depraved. He has been behind much of Mr. Siegelman’s problems. Men like KKKarl Rove deserve nothing but disdain. Forget “moving on”. Thugs should be punished.

When you have federal judges that make remarks like the following what do you expect? Justice? Honesty? integrity?

Judge Keller wrote the opinion rejecting a new trial for Roy Criner, a mentally retarded man convicted of rape and murder, even though DNA tests after his trial showed that it was not his semen in the victim. “We can’t give new trials to everyone who establishes, after conviction, that they might be innocent,” she later told the television news program “Frontline.” “We would have no finality in the criminal justice system, and finality is important.”
