   I think many people who rise to prominence get full of themselves. They are afraid the rest of us will discover their feet of clay, so they find another person to pick on and make snide remarks about them. They think this will make them seem “in-the-know” and ever so clever. I find such people tedious. They need to get a life. The corporate-owned media struggles with presenting the real news of the day. They would much rather focus on personalities and trivia. They adore tearing someone down. They jump at the chance to spread rumors and lies, like the Swiftboat B.S. They like to comment on someone’s physical appearance, because that takes no brains at all to do so. It doesnt require thought or analysis. Real substance takes intelligence to appreciate and interpret to the public. They would rather not make the effort. I skip over their nonsense as often as possible. If they have nothing of value to offer, I have no time to waste on their trivialities.

   I’d like to think that the advent of blogs and the internet has rendered these people irrelevant. It seems that they seem to be writing with only one intent: to amuse each other.

   The image that most readily comes to mind is that of a junior high school lunch room. The really cool kids sit together at one table and those wishing to join them sit nearby, within earshot, and make clever or even rude remarks about the pariah of the day in hopes that the cool kids will find them worthy enough to be invited to the table.

   That is, of course, the whole premise of Steve’s post and I find it both true and depressing.

   Is it only fair to ridicule conservatives? I like that Dowd skewers anyone that deserves it. This sense of entitlement that NYT columnists should give Democrats special treatment plays into the right-wing LMSM myth.

   True enough, if a Democrat does something stupid, then surely he/she deserves to be skewered….but being snarky over a candidate’s weight or color of suit or…whether the candidate wears pant suits or a skirt is reaching just a bit….donchathink?

   Dowd’s no Coulter, but she gives it her best shot.
   Has she ever written about Coulter? Of course, one only hates liberals while the other hates everybody but they could work that out.
   I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
